PARK CITY, UTAH
Park City is synonymous with skiing, the Olympics, and film. But did you know its a wellness and foodie hotspot as well? If that isn’t enough, 400+ miles of paved and natural surface trails are ripe for exploring. At night, enjoy a cool walk on Main Street or hop the bus to Deer Valley for their Summer Music Festival. Grab a drink and do a gallery stroll or check out a museum celebrating our rich mining history, 2002 Olympic legacy, and native Utahns like the Ute and Shoshone tribes. Adventure parks and zip lines, bobsled runs and distillery tours—there is definitely no shortage of things to do in Park City—whether you’re a family on a ski trip, attending a work conference, road tripping through, or just doing some soul searching!
Skiing and Snowboarding in Park City
The skiing and snowboarding here is world-class with two areas—Deer Valley Resort, consistently voted the number one ski resort in the United States, and Park City Mountain, one the largest ski resorts in the country. Woodward Park City is the latest addition, offering lift serve terrain parks and a massive indoor action sports facility for all levels.
Deer Valley
Deer Valley, where the slalom and freestyle ski competitions were held in 2002, combines the hospitality of a five-star hotel and world-class skiing. With over 2,000 skiable acres and 300 inches of annual snowfall, finding some fresh turns is never difficult, and there are plenty of runs for skiers of every age and ability. Deer Valley’s Expanded Excellence terrain expansion will add 3700 acres and the new East Village beginning in 2025.
If you’re not ready for the double black diamond runs, Deer Valley has numerous ski classes and opportunities to learn. There are group lessons for the kids or one-on-one with an instructor. If you want to try your hand at telemarking, there are lessons for that too. You can even book a former Olympian to show you around the resort for the day. Deer Valley is consistently rated the number one ski resort in the country for a reason, so punch your pass and jump on the high-speed lifts.
Park City Mountain
Across 7300 acres, 11 square miles, 41 chairlifts, and 2 villages there is something for everyone at Park City Mountain. Endless groomers, pow stashes, and glades call all those who love to explore new terrain. And with iconic scenery including ski runs right into Historic Old Town and the 10,000-foot Jupiter Peak, you’ll never not have a chance to make a memory. Freestyle skiers and boarders are welcome too with 7 terrain parks spread out across the mountain and I Ride Park City boosting the excitement. With tons of lodging and restaurants steps from the slopes, you won’t have to work hard to ski and ride this endless mountain!
Woodward Park City
A world-class, year-round action sports destination in one of the greatest outdoor regions in the world. Woodward Park City has a fully integrated campus made up of a state-of-the-art action sports hub and more than 80 acres of action sports and mountain parks that encourage intuitive growth and safe progression. Woodward Park City has lift-accessed snowboarding, skiing, and also offers snow tubing serviced by two surface lifts with the longest lanes in Utah.
Shop along Historic Main Street
Duck into Park City’s one-of-a-kind boutiques, window shop, or pick up souvenirs to cherish once you return home from your winter vacation. Up and down Main are bookstores crammed with interesting titles and one-off gifts, chic clothing stores, custom jewelers, museums, contemporary galleries, and more. In between are plenty of bars and restaurants to relax and enjoy at a slower pace.
Cast a Fly
Fly fishing is more frequently thought of as a summer or fall activity, but spending time on the river during the winter months can be a magical experience. Picture snow is falling around you as you listen to the river flow – it doesn’t get much more serene.
Yes, you can angle in the winter and the conditions are fantastic!
Snowshoe the Uintas
The Uintas, a mountain range just east of Park City, is a subrange of the Rocky Mountains and are unique as they are the highest range in the continental US that runs east to west. Because of the elevation and geographic position, they often receive more snow—allowing for early snowshoeing or even Nordic skiing.
Exploring the Uinta range is a great way to find solace on your next trip to Park City!
Fat Biking
The say “you never forget how to ride a bike” is true, even in winter. Riding a fat bike in on Park City’s winter trails is one of the best ways to get a new perspective on our town. Nothing beats steady pedaling through ghostly aspens and snow-covered conifers. Fat bike’s over-sized tires allow you to glide atop the snow-covered trails with ease and give riders access to terrain not otherwise accessible by bike during winter months. Many of the bike shops in Park City offer fat bike rentals so you can give it a try!
